Job summary
The post holder will be part of the multi-disciplinary team providing the day-to-day health protection function, including the management of infectious and environmental hazards and supporting response to major incidents. The post is an entry level Health Protection development post and as such will develop specialist knowledge and skills to undertake case management, liaise with, and provide health protection advice and response across a range of partner organisations, professionals and the public. The post holder will undergo a programme of on-going development and education to build on existing knowledge and develop skills to provide specialist health protection advice and meet competencies required to undertake the role. When competence has been established they will contribute to the out-of-hours on-call service.
There are two posts available within this recruitment.
Main duties of the job
- Under supervision, contribute to the day to day running of the acute response function to ensure highquality, safe and effective delivery of the health protection service.
- Provide first point of contact for specialist knowledge, support and advice to health professionals on health protection matters.
- Undertake initial assessment and management of routine acute response work and non-complex incidents.
- Escalate and refer challenging or complex incidents and outbreaks of infectious diseases and non-infectious environmental hazards to senior manager asappropriate.
- Manage and carry out continuing responsibility for a caseload ensuring accurate, up to date records of contacts/action by completion of relevant records andcompliance with team handover procedures, in line with UKHSA's standards for record keeping.
- To utilise an evidence based approach to manage clinical/professional advice and discussions within the team, seeking senior advice as/when appropriate.
- Support and participate in the team's formal case review process.
- Contribute to and where required lead under supervision the ongoing longer term management of issues relevant to a defined geographical area.
- Contribute to the UKHSA response during incidents in line with UKHSAs Emergency Planning andResilience Response (EPRR) arrangements as part of the region's responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act.
- May be required to participate in a local on call rota at regional level as required.

SURVEILLANCE
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective systems for the surveillance of communicable disease and environmental hazards
- Contribute to the use of surveillance outputs to inform and influence local and national Public Health actions, policies and strategies
- Support identification and reporting of health needs, health inequalities and health impact assessment
PARTNERSHIP WORKING
- Through activities delegated and supported by line management, contribute to the development of effective relationships with a range of individuals and stakeholders.
- With support and guidance from line management, may sometimes deal with difficult and/or conflicting subject matter problems in day to day work load.
RESEARCH, TEACHING AND TRAINING
- Contribute to research activity to complement the health protection evidence base
- Contribute to the development and delivery of teaching resources and activities across a range of audiences with support from senior manager as appropriate
MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
- To act as role model adhering to team professional standards
- Contribute to the development of policies and protocols for a wide range of health protection issues

COMMUNICATION AND KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Essentialrolecriteria :
- First degree (Health Related e.g. environmental health, biomedical science, public health) or equivalent experience, e.g. in laboratory [ Civil Service terms and conditions ]

This role is being offered as hybrid working based at supporting hub in Bristol or Totnes. We offer great flexible working opportunities at UKHSA and operate using a hybrid working model where business needs allow. This provides us with greater flexibility about how and where we work, to get the best from our workforce. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse to join the Dorset Headache Service on a Band 6 secondment basis.
This role offers an excellent development opportunity for a nurse with an interest in neurology, specialist outpatient services and advanced therapeutic interventions. Working within the Dorset Headache Service, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting patients with chronic migraine and complex headache disorders, alongside patients requiring injectable therapies within the Movement Disorders Service.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic Upper GI Nurse Endoscopist to support our Endoscopy Service at East Cheshire NHS Trust. Innovation in service delivery and flexibility to work within the needs of the service are key requirements of this role.

Job summary
Great Tey Ward at Colchester Hospital is looking to appoint a substantive Nurse Consultant. Applications are being sought from candidates with experience either as a Nurse Consultant or within an Advanced Clinical Practice post.
Great Tey is a Nurse Led medically optimised ward that sits within the inpatient flow CDG. The post holder will also be required to provide clinical leadership and day to day oversight of medically outlined patients who are accommodated within the Orthopaedic and Gynaecology wards (Oldham, Fordham and Stanway). Seren Lodge Mother and Baby Unit, an exciting collaboration between NHS England and NHS Wales, opened in December 2025 on the grounds of the Countess of Chester Health Park.
Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Band 4 Nursery Nurse to join the Mother and Baby Unit team.
The Mother and Baby Unit is a specialist provision for women with mental health problems during pregnancy and/or in the tear after their baby is born. Patients in the postnatal period will have their babies with them during their time as an inpatient on the Mother and Baby Unit. Seren Lodge will be an 8 bedded unit with 6 beds commissioned by NHS England for the women of Cheshire and Merseyside and 2 beds commissioned by NHS Wales for the women of North Wales. The Mother and Baby Unit will also accept referrals for out of area women when there are beds available.
This post is part time 23 hours per week
Main duties of the job
We are hoping to build a supportive and knowledgeable multi-disciplinary team, working on a rotational shift basis which includes day and night shifts. The posts offer the successful applicants the exciting opportunity to build a team that provides the highest quality of care for our service users. We will offer an excellent training programme and preceptorship programme.
The applicants must be able to demonstrate an understanding and application of the 6 C's in practice, these being Care; Compassion; Competence; Communication; Courage and Commitment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Medical Administrator role within one of our Liaison Psychiatry departments across the trust.
You will be part of a multi disciplinary team based on the Heartlands hospital site in Birmingham. The specialised team of practitioners work on the frontline of undertaking psychiatric assessments whilst developing safe and effective clinical management plans.
The Liaison Psychiatry Service is an innovative and award winning team delivering mental health assessment, intervention, care planning, signposting and onward referrals for patients in acute hospitals, initially developed in Birmingham in 2009. We work to address the mental health needs of people receiving physical health treatment from ages 16-years and upwards. Common presentations include deliberate self-harm, depression, dementia and psychosis. We assess people in A&E and from any ward/medical specialty across the hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing a confidential, professional and competent service to the Consultant Psychiatrists and medical team. The post holder will undertake a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties which includes digital audio transcription of complex clinical letters, reports, summaries and other correspondence as required, whilst ensuring a high degree of accuracy in medical terminology and clinical details. Cover for administrative staff across Urgent Care (as and when required) will be a requirement of the role.

Job summary
We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
This is for a secondment post until May 2027.
Ward 5B is a 30 bedded emergency orthopaedic ward, compromising of 4 bedded bays and side rooms. We predominately look after patients with fractured neck of femurs as well as other orthopaedic issues such as rib fractures and spinal fractures. As a department we focus on autonomous and nurse led/ patient focused care.
As a registered nurse, you will work closely with your nursing colleagues as well as the wider multidisciplinary team, consisting of doctors, physios, OT and the discharge team. to facilitate the speedy and safe discharges of our patients.
This role will include long days, short days, nights, weekends and bank holidays as per rota.

Main duties of the job
As a registered nurse you will provide a high standard of care and support the team to deliver a high quality service which is linked to high standards of patient care.
Your main responsibilities include:
Support patient with their ADL's
Pre and Post op care
Facilitate the safe and speedy discharges
Post op wound care
Managing deteriorating patients
Provide patient centred/ focused care
Work with multidisciplinary teams
Support clinical support workers in their duties
