Job summary
We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and skilled Band 6 Midwife to join our Maternity Services team within Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. In this rewarding role, you will provide high quality, personalised and evidence-based care to women, birthing people and their families throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.
As an autonomous practitioner, you will support the delivery of safe and equitable maternity care across both hospital and community settings, whilst promoting informed choice, physiological birth where appropriate, and positive outcomes for women, babies and families.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside midwives, obstetricians, anaesthetists, neonatal colleagues, health visitors, safeguarding teams and other healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will also contribute to mentoring students and junior staff, service improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of maternity services.
Main duties of the job
- Provide the full range of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care for women, birthing people and their babies.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care programmes, ensuring care is safe, evidence-based and woman-centred.
- Promote physiological birth and support women and birthing people to make informed choices throughout their maternity journey.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to complications, clinical deterioration and obstetric emergencies, escalating concerns when required.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high standards of maternal and neonatal care.
- Provide leadership, supervision and support to student midwives, newly qualified staff and support workers.
- Act as an advocate for women and families, ensuring dignity, respect and safeguarding principles are embedded in practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with Trust standards and professional requirements.
- Participate in audit, quality improvement, patient safety initiatives and incident reporting activities.
- Contribute to the delivery of a 24-hour maternity service, including participation in the on-call rota.

- Assist children and young people with activities of daily living, ensuring privacy, dignity and comfort at all times.
- Undertake clinical observations including temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, urinalysis, weight and height measurements, reporting findings appropriately.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Clinical Lead to join our Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient team on Rydon Ward 1 at the Wellsprings Hospital site in Taunton.
You will be a key member of the inpatient multidisciplinary team, working within a recoveryfocused service and playing a central role in promoting high standards of clinical care. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to teamwork and the ability to support and develop others.

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse to join the team on the Beacon day unit and contribute to the provision of a high standard of evidenced based practice and ensure the safe delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) to our oncology and haematology patients. There is an expectation that hours are worked flexibly on a rota basis Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
As a SACT Staff Nurse, you'll deliver patient care, using the systems in place in the department for a multi-disciplinary approach to patient-centred care delivery which builds on the philosophy of greater involvement of patients and their relatives/carers by using the Trusts patient and public involvement strategy.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Clinical Lead to join our Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient team on Rydon Ward 1 at the Wellsprings Hospital site in Taunton.
You will be a key member of the inpatient multidisciplinary team, working within a recoveryfocused service and playing a central role in promoting high standards of clinical care. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to teamwork and the ability to support and develop others.

Rydon Ward 1 is a 15 bed acute inpatient ward providing assessment and treatment primarily for adults of working age experiencing acute mental health needs. The ward works closely with specialist mental health doctors, nurses, therapists and the Home Treatment Team. The service mainly supports people living in the Taunton area and also accepts admissions for serving members of the military.
Main duties of the job
- Provide visible clinical leadership within the ward, promoting high standards of nursing care and recoveryfocused practice
- Coordinate, deliver and maintain safe, effective and personcentred care for all patients on the ward
- Deputise for the Ward Manager and support the daytoday management of the ward
