Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity tojoin our Adult PICU Mental Health Norbury Ward at St Georges Hospital, Stafford.
Norbury House is a psychiatric intensive care unit and has eleven inpatient beds for male only patients. We aim to provide a service which helps each patient as an individual and gives them the treatment they need to work towards their recovery. Working in an PICU environment can be challenging, but with the right team, positive attitude and resilience we are rising to the challenge and reaping the reward of being able to support people during their most difficult times.
We will empower you to work innovatively, showing a commitment to providing compassionate care and a strong desire to improve the patient's experience. You will be able to apply the philosophies of engagement, recovery and positive care in your work with your patients.
Main duties of the job
- You will take the lead for quality and clinical interventions on the ward and be an active member of a collective leadership group.
- You will be responsible for guiding and undertaking clinical assessments, in accordance with clinical pathways, in order to establish the person's needs, goals, risks and strengths in order to generate a formulation based care plan agreed with all involved.
- You will be responsible for guiding and delivering therapeutic interventions, in accordance with an agreed care plan.
- You will also be expected to be available for consultation, support and clinical supervision to other health professionals working on the ward.

We are pleased to be able to offer an opportunity for an experienced mental health nurse and independent prescriber to take on an exciting new role in the Primary Care Mental Health Team.
This role will involve working in partnership with local GP practices to ensure reviews of prescribed medications are taking place for people who are under the Essential Shared Care Agreement (ESCA) with their GPs.
The role includes supporting GP practices to monitor prescribing and supporting joint working between the Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) and the GP Practices.
This is an extension of an existing programme of work providing joint physical and mental health reviews in local GP practices for people with a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness (SMI).
The role will include driving quality improvements through leading on areas such as patient satisfaction, data recording and reporting, clinical supervision, clinical audit and ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice.
Relationship building with Primary Care Networks and GP practices will form an important part of this role. An understanding of these relationships and an approach that supports collaborative working is crucial for the post holder.
Significant experience in mental health particularly working with people with severe and enduring mental health needs will be required to undertake this role.
Main duties of the job
- Work predominantly in GP practices in South East Staffordshire to provide assessment and review for individuals presenting with mental health needs.
- Review prescribing in collaboration with GP practices.
- Carry out assessments of service users following agreed practice guidelines.
- Implement and review care planning and risk management.
- Provide staff supervision to aid service provision for individuals presenting with mental health needs.
- Deliver a high quality clinical service to service users, families and carers in the community.
- Demonstrate an attitude which respects the core values of the organisation and the principles of recovery.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting mothers experiencing severe mental health difficulties, while ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and healthy development of their infants during admission.
You will lead the team of Inpatient Nursery Nurses, holding a professional leadership role jointly with their Team Managers who retain oversight of management, supervision and an overview of job planning and service development.
You will liaise with other members of the clinical team with regard to the spectrum of care for babies. You will also participate in monthly service performance, delivery and business meetings, multi- professional team meetings, handover meetings and other opportunities for feedback and discussion, as required.
You will alongside the Team Psychologist to develop and implement programmes of parent-infant relationship support for the mothers and families within the service. You will alsooversee the organisation and planning of structures play and stay groups for services users and their children.
Main duties of the job
What you'll do:
- Lead, supervise, and support a team of nursery nurses and support staff.
- Deliver high-quality care to infants, ensuring their safety, emotional wellbeing, and developmental needs are met.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, including nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and occupational therapists.
- Provide guidance and modelling to parents, supporting positive bonding and parenting skills.
- Contribute to care planning and safeguarding processes.
- Maintain a therapeutic, nurturing, and safe environment on the unit.
What we're looking for:
- Substantial post-qualification experience working with babies and families.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills, with experience supervising staff.
- Understanding of child development, safeguarding, and the impact of perinatal mental health difficulties.
- Compassion, resilience, and excellent communication skills.
- Previous experience of Perinatal Mental Health Care provision, is not essential, however would be of huge benefit.

Commitment to working across 7 days to support consistent rehabilitation ethos Shows effective communication in a range of environments. Qualifications Essential Level 2 or above qualification (e.g. NVQ III, QCF 2) or equivalent GCSE English and Maths grade c / level 4 or above or Functional English and Maths level 2.
