We are looking for dedicated Neonatal nurses to join nurse bank team in caring for patients on the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.
Main duties of the job
- Oversees and undertakes the assessment of neonatal patient care needs, and the planning, implementation and evaluation of care in the neonatal unit
- Responsible for ensuring care in the neonatal area is consistent with local and national policies and protocols, and leads on the use of evidence based guidance to improve clinical practice.
- Participates in the development, implementation and monitoring of local and national policies and protocols
- Responsible for the safe administration, storage and ordering of drugs in the Neonatal Unit
- Responsible for health promotion and health education within Neonatal Unit
- Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ensure high standards of nursing care are maintained reflecting all aspects of the neonatal unit philosophy of care.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care for a designated group of babies and their parents.
- Act as an advocate, upholding the best interests of the neonate and family.
- Encourage practice which develops partnership with parents and maximises their contribution to the care of their babies.

Support the ward manager & provide clinical leadership including supervision of staff, audit & research, clinical governance, development of evidence-based guidelines & training/education
Role model compassionate & inclusive leadership
A Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice including completion of a non-medical prescribing qualification & independent advanced clinical skills is essential aspart of the Tier 1 rota
Identify sick infants who subsequently require management on the SCBU including initial assessment, stabilisation, & management, including passive cooling, ventilation, fluids, drug therapy & other resultant treatments. They will work closely with Paediatric Consultants & other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Role model to all staff & part of the senior team to improve & maintain standards & provide comprehensive advice and guidance to all departments.
To manage & lead complex situations in the absence of paediatric medical cover, making judgements involving complex facts, requiring analysis & interpretation to monitor & evaluate outcomes in patient-centred care.
To undertake nurse-led initiatives & procedures according to set protocols & procedures.
Main duties of the job
Advanced clinical practice is delivered by experienced, registered nurse/midwives. It is a level of practice with a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making. This is underpinned by a Master's degree that encompasses the 4 pillars of:

- research,
The Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will:
- Use advanced knowledge and skills in Neonatal care to undertake comprehensive clinical assessments, make decisions based on clinical reasoning and initiate, evaluate, and modify a range of interventions.
- Provide professional senior clinical leadership and support within the specialty multi professional team and across service boundaries.
- Support the wider team to build capacity and capability through work-based and interprofessional learning, and the application of learning to practice. Act as a role model, educator, supervisor, coach, and mentor
- Lead clinical audits and critically engage in research activity using the results to underpin own practice, inform the practice of others and make organisational recommendations.
- Provide a proactive, effective holistic service for newborn infants on SCBU, delivery-suite and postnatal wards. This includes responsibility for the clinical care and management for babies in SCBU.
Assume lead clinical oversight for transitional care babies on the postnatal ward, NIPE screening and liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to achieve the aim of reducing avoidable admissions to the SCBU.

Endoscopy is a fast-paced specialist service that offers a unique nursing experience. We are committed to offering world class endoscopy training and are subscribed to the JAG JETs training system which provides our nurses with nationally recognised accreditation for the skills and knowledge they acquire during their development pathway.
We are a JAG accredited Bowel Cancer Screening centre and are proud of the standards we have achieved.
The successful candidate will be part of a highly-skilled team responsible for the pre assessment of patients requiring an endoscopic procedure as well as working in the endoscopy department.
The successful candidate will need to possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be able to demonstrate leadership skills, work proactively as part of a successful team and demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills. They must also be able to manage their time effectively and work flexibly to meet the ever-changing requirements of the service both within the department and also Trust-wide.
You will be a 1st Level Staff Nurse with evidence of ongoing professional development.
Endoscopy experience would be beneficial, although not essential.
Main duties of the job
You will be pre assessing patients to assess their suitability for endoscopic procedures and manage the patient pathway. As well as supporting our Gastrointestinal, Urological, Gynaecological and Respiratory patients through all stages of their procedure pathway, whilst also ensuring that the endoscopic equipment is maintained according to our high standards.

Job summary
If you are a reliable individual with initiative and a positive approach to work an exciting opportunity has arisen within our friendly team to work for the Breast Screening Unit. We provide a screening and symptomatic breast imaging service for the population of Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside and Durham, predominantly working at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as well as in 3 static units and 2 mobile trailers. This would be a fantastic development opportunity for the right person. You must have good communication and organisational skills and be able to adapt to developing service needs. A qualification as an Assistant Practitioner would be desirable but not essential as full training could be given to suitably qualified applicants. The main responsibility of the role will be to provide excellent technical expertise in all aspects of the service including assessment and symptomatic clinics. Core working hours are from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday and Saturdays 8am-4pm. A current driving license and a car available for use are an essential requirements. Anyone applying for a position which involves a regulated activity will require an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and that the disclosure will, where appropriate to the role, include information against the Independent Safeguarding Authority barred lists for working with children or working with adults or both.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of a multi disciplinary team providing an efficient and effective BreastScreening Service to patients/clients within the assessment centre and on mobile andstatic screening units.To carry out screening mammography to the standard required by the NHS BreastScreening Programme and provide a high level of patient care within the symptomatic andassessment services.To work at all screening venues as well as in the base hospital, and to be prepared to workflexible hours to suit the need of the service.To provide support to medical staff during clinics.To x-ray breast pathological specimens after appropriate training.To work in a flexible manner and be willing to adapt to the changing needs of the serviceincluding extending their role to incorporate further imaging techniques after appropriatetraining actively engage in the "Make every contact count" (MECC) process, promoting healthylifestyle choices.

Job summary
The Hospice at Home Health care Assistant will complement the Hospice at Home Community Team, providing direct care and support to patients with complex palliative care needs within their own home in the last stages of life. The aim of the role is to provide any necessarysupport including personal hygiene care, assisting with dressing and all agreed care under the supervision and guidance of the Band 6 Coordinator. Predominately this will be for patients whowish to be cared for at home .The post holder will be expected to work alone with access to professional advice and guidance when required. The post holder will have specialist palliative care skills in order to support the patient, carers and family.The post holder will have a strong working relationship with other community teams. The post holder will work with the coordinator and the multidisciplinary team, they will also liaisewith multiple stakeholders in order to ensure that the day to day co-ordination and delivery of service is in a timely and professional manner.The post holder will play a key role in ensuring that the patient remains in their place of choice and where possible any hospital admission is avoided.
Main duties of the job
The main duties for this post will be visiting patients in their own home across the whole of Gateshead. Offering agreed packages of personalised care. This will include support will all activities of daily living washing dressing as well as emotional support to patient and families and some domestic work. A flexible approach to the working day will be required due to the fluctuating needs of the service.
