Job summary
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust are looking for highly motivated and dynamic Operating Department Practitioners and Nurses who are passionate about delivering outstanding surgical care. We are a hardworking and enthusiastic department with a strong sense of teamwork.
The successful applicant will be either a registered nurse or Operating Department Practitioner. As part of our robust Trust preceptorship program we provide a 12-month graduate program which is specifically designed to aid our newly qualified nurses and ODPs, with 6 paid study days per annum and then a continued development program. Our Trust works in close partnership with Huddersfield University providing post graduate learning and development opportunities.
Main duties of the job
o Prepare an operating theatre/anaesthetic room for surgery in relation to instrumentation, equipment and supplies required for specific operative procedures,ensuring waste is kept to a minimum. In the case of anaesthetics ensure allnecessary and emergency equipment is available and in working order.o Record the patients theatre episode of care in the Electronic Patients Record (EPR) and Bluespier record in a timely and accurate manner.o Act as a preceptor / mentor for student ODP's, student nurses, trainee associate nurses, and ATP's, where appropriate within your area of expertise.o To work as a team member without being under supervision and supervise and mentor junior staff to run an operating list.o Perform scrub, circulating and/or anaesthetic PACU duties within the specialist areao Be responsible for appropriate delegation of tasks to other staff members.o Comply with policies/procedures and in particular, issues relating to Health and Safety, COSSH, Incidents Reporting and the Data Protection Act.

Calderdale Main Theatre consists of 9 operating theatres providing acute and elective surgery to adults and children in the specialities of ENT, Ophthalmics, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and minor and major Orthopaedics. This also includes 24 hour emergency obstetric cover, resus cover and acutes in Gynaecology and ENT.

Job summary
This is an exciting Band 7 opportunity to clinically lead the Calderdale Post Covid service.
You will join a multiprofessional team who are passionate about the service they deliver. The team works with a strong emphasis on self management and delivers symptom based rehab. You will provide expert triage, assessment, treatment and clinical coordination of patients in CHFT's pathway.
The expectation is that this service will develop in line with West Yorkshire ICB recommendations to expand to include other conditions who would benefit from a similar symptom based approach. You will work alongside the service lead to develop this new vision and pathway.
You will also be leading, facilitating and working with a number of professions including direct liaison with primary care, referrers and consultants in secondary care.
This service is delivered in a variety of settings: classes, patient homes, clinic and virtual. You will support the training and skill acquisition within the core team but also support training needs of services across the Calderdale place. As a new and emerging service, you and the service lead will be responsible for the development and evaluation of the service.

Are you an experienced Paediatric nurse with a passion to deliver high quality nursing care in a special school environment.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Paediatric Nurse to join the Special School Nursing Team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust.
Term time opportunity for 24.5 hours per week across 5 working days of the week to maintain the current service, supporting children and young people attending Special schools across Huddersfield and Calderdale.
The team provides specialist nursing to 5 schools across Huddersfield and Halifax and you will work within the team. It will be expected that you are able to support in all of the schools on an as required basis to rotate skills and staff. However this role will have a main base in one of the 5 sites.
Main duties of the job
- Provide clinical nursing care within the special school setting.
- Support training and support for Education staff within scope of your own practice and expertise.
- Develop, plan and implement care for children and young people with complex needs and disability who attend special school
- Take a lead role in the management and support of junior staff on the school site.
- Escalate any concerns to SSNT Team Leader.
