Job summary
We are looking for an individual who is experienced in assessing fetal wellbeing at the different maternity settings and is skilled and experienced in teaching. The post holder will be expected to support Labour Ward as well as the other maternity areas and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe and efficient service.The role will require the individual to take a lead on teaching and ensuring training targets are met for fetal wellbeing in accordance to the National requirements.
The role will require the post holder to work collaboratively with the matron to ensure the smooth running of the service including training and orientating and updates.The post holder will be required to keep abreast of any changes to process or protocol and will be able to able to educate all necessary staff of these changes.The post holder must be prepared to be part of the team supporting training and assessment for student and preceptorship midwives.
Main duties of the job
- To support and work with the teams across the Maternity department to develop a programme plan to facilitate the implementation of a clinically based teaching and competency based assessment package to aim towards achieving better birth outcomes.
- To develop staff awareness in recognising pathophysiological factors that could contribute to misinterpretation of the fetal heart pattern. This will be relevant when using both intermittent auscultation plotted on a partogram and electronic monitoring using a cardiotocographs (CTGs). To develop and expand midwives' competence in undertaking intermittent auscultation of the fetal heart when caring for low risk women as per NICE guidelines, utilising the most current and robust evidence based practice
- Ensure staff can intelligently auscultate the fetal heart in labour in the midwifery led unit and at home reflective in the documentation, and increase confidence in staff in auscultating the fetal heart intermittently using either a pinard or hand held sonicaid.

- To further embed and develop the current competency testing for fetal monitoring to assess and improve the knowledge and skills of all staff providing intrapartum and antenatal care across all maternity settings.
- To produce and cascade out and embed into practice an intelligent intermittent auscultation training package and lead on the use of this in training midwives who provide intrapartum care on the Delivery Suites, the Midwifery Led Unit and in the womans home.
- Ensure that all midwives and obstetricians providing antenatal and intrapartum care undertake the competency test in assessing fetal wellbeing.
- In conjunction with the midwifery education team provide enhanced teaching and additional support to staff who need to repeat the competency test to in order to achieve and demonstrate the expected levels of knowledge.
- Lead weekly CTG workshops, maintaining an electronic database to evidence attendance registers and ensure compliance to the mandatory requirement for midwives and medical staff. Disseminate learning which emerges from workshops.
- Organise CTG master classes on the monthly mandatory training week ensuring the attendance of all eligible staff.
- Develop, in conjunction with the Maternity Matrons, Obstetric Lead for Delivery Suite and the Obstetric Lead for Risk, an audit form (on a daily basis) for case reviews all emergency deliveries i.e. instrumental and caesarean sections in the previous twenty-four hours to review the interpretation of CTGs and subsequent management of care. Use findings of such cases for reflective practice sessions, to cascade and evidence learning from good practice and identify areas for further development
- Use every opportunity to facilitate teaching, learning and reflection within the clinical area.
- When required to work as a practicing midwife within the maternity unit and undertake unit coordinator duties as required
- Ensure staff are assessing fetal well-being in the context of the woman's health, pregnancy, gestation and stage of labour by observing how handover iscommunicated at change of shifts, midwife to doctor communication when referrals are made and listening to assessments made over the telephone (SBAR).

Job summary
This is a key role in developing and maintaining high standards of care for women and birthing people who are developing, or at risk of developing mental health problems in pregnancy and the early post natal period. You will be joining a well-established service and you will be expected to work with the multidisplinary team within in the Perinatal Mental Health (PNMH) clinics.
You will have a high level of relevant expert knowledge and skills which you will use to manage, develop and lead care and care pathways and for pregnant and new mothers/birthing people with current or historic mental health needs. The role will be responsible for case loading women with identified mental health diagnosis.
This role includes participation in the Manager on Call rota.
This role includes cross site working between the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath and the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical team in our Norwich unit working 30 hours per week over Monday to Thursday.

About the role
You will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception, and vasectomy. You will be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment and will work in all areas of the unit including theatre and recovery. This role will involve providing treatment and clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.
About You
You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration and PIN. You will have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding & Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.
With excellent interpersonal & communication skills you will be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way. You will also be comfortable using IT & MS Packages including Outlook, Word & MS Teams.
Main duties of the job
- You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
- Provide information on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform and confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
- Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
- Carry out post treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns
- Complete relevant paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
- To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
We are also looking for:
- Sound & accurate administrative competence with attention to detail
- Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual health, contraception
- Venepuncture / cannulation skills

We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical teams at our Milton Keynes and Northampton units. You will work 23 hours per week over Tuesday to Friday. More details can be found in the further information section below.
About the role
As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy. You'll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery. This role will involve providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.
About You
You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration and PIN. You'll have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding and Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.
You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills and you will be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way.
Main duties of the job
- You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
- Provide information on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform and confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
- Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
- Carry out post treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns
- Complete relevant paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
- To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
We are also looking for:
- Sound & accurate administrative competence with attention to detail
- Gynaecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual health, contraception
- Venepuncture / cannulation skills
- Comfortable using IT and Microsoft Packages including Outlook, Word and Microsoft Teams.

Job summary
To provide to the local population evidence-based women-centred midwifery care and be accountable for the overall provision of excellent care. To hold current NMC registration as a Midwife, working within the NMC Code of Professional Standards (2018). Main duties of the job
We are seeking experienced and motivated midwives with a strong foundation in evidence-based midwifery practice and a commitment to delivering high-quality, woman-centred care. Candidates should demonstrate sound clinical knowledge across the full maternity pathway, including antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, with the ability to recognise and respond to emergencies promptly and effectively.
You will bring excellent communication, critical-thinking and decision-making skills, working confidently as an autonomous practitioner while contributing positively within the multidisciplinary team. Proven experience in supporting normal birth, managing complex cases and promoting safe, compassionate care is essential. Applicants should be adaptable, organised and able to thrive in a dynamic environment, with a proactive approach to maintaining professional development and promoting best practice.

The specialist midwife for perinatal mental health will have a key organisational role in developing and maintaining high standards of care for women with mental health problems during pregnancy and the immediate postnatal period. You will be an innovative practitioner and an effective change agent promoting evidence based practice
Main responsibilities include providing support and midwifery care for women with mental health problems during pregnancy and the postnatal period in conjunction with the perinatal mental health team and neighbouring Mother and Baby Unit. You will work closely with women to plan and coordinate their care based on their individual needs. You will be involved in maintaining current standards in care pathways and policies for women with mild, moderate and severe mental health problems booked at Homerton Hospital; close liaison with relevant hospital and community based professionals; offering advice to maternity service staff and organising on-going mental health training for midwives, doctors and other health care practitioners. You will be an active member of the Maternity Safeguarding Team, providing support, advice and liaison when required.

You will provide a link between the maternity service and other services involved in mental health care for women, including the local primary care therapy service (IAPT), maternal mental health service (OCEAN) and the perinatal mental health team. This will involve working with a range of relevant professionals, services and agencies, including commissioners and the public health team.

Main duties of the job
The successful post holder will provide ante-natal, post-natal and intrapartum care to women with low and high-risk pregnancies. They will rotate through all areas of the services as required including Continuity of Carer and Community and will be supported by the newly appointed midwifery retention support midwife. You will also have access to the lead Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) and a team of PMAs for additional support if/when required.

Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing clinical, operational and professional leadership within the Maternity Triage Service, ensuring the delivery of safe, responsive, equitable and evidence-based care for women and birthing people accessing urgent and unscheduled maternity care.
You will coordinate the day-to-day management of maternity triage, maintaining oversight of clinical activity, patient flow, staffing, capacity and risk to ensure timely assessment, prioritisation and escalation of care.
Acting as the clinical lead for the Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System (BSOTS), you will support the implementation of the NHS England Maternity Triage Specification and promote maternity triage as a safety-critical clinical environment.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, you will contribute to governance, audit, quality improvement, workforce development and service transformation activities, embedding learning from national maternity recommendations and supporting the delivery of safe, personalised and compassionate care.

Ensuring there are standardised pathways of care for MDT management of women with diabetes in pregnancy.

We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical team within our Finsbury Park unit in London. You will work part-time, 29.5 hours per week over Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays. More details can be found in the further information section below.
About the role
As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy. You'll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery. This role will involve providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.
About You
You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration and PIN. You'll have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding and Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.
You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills and you will be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way.
Main duties of the job
- You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
- Provide information on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform and confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
- Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
- Carry out post treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns
- Complete relevant paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
- To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
We are also looking for:
- Sound & accurate administrative competence with attention to detail
- Gynaecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual health, contraception
- Venepuncture / cannulation skills
- Comfortable using IT and Microsoft Packages including Outlook, Word and Microsoft Teams.
